How English language grades work and relate with UK education and language frameworks

This page is here to help you understand how grading at Odils Learning Foundation works. There are lots of different ways of learning English in the UK.

Our English courses are best for people who are speakers of other languages. These courses fit into the ESOL grading framework.

ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages. ESOL English courses work very well for people who do not speak English as their first language.

We teach English at 6 different levels within the ESOL framework. Pre Entry, Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2.

ESOL grades help other people understand what level of English language you have. They can help you get a job and qualify for further education.

Each grade has a level of skills required, things you are able to say and do with English language. You can look at each grade and the skills required using the buttons below.

Before you begin to learn more about grading, you need to understand what some of the different English language frameworks are called.
