Safeguarding At Odils

Being part of Odils means you are part of a big family. We strive to look after our students using what we call Safeguarding.

Safeguarding means that there are policies in place to support students when you have a problem or a complaint. Safeguarding means there are measures in place to protect the health, well-being and human rights of individuals, which allow people, especially children, young people and vulnerable adults, to live free from abuse, harm and neglect. wikipedia definition

If you are having problems at home, you’re worried about a friend or you’re upset and need help.

Come and talk to our safeguarding team.

What to do to keep safe

Never tell anyone on the internet your personal information

Do not borrow money from people in the UK with no paperwork

Stay away from illegal activities like stealing and drugs

Remember, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility!

Say something if you see something

Odils can help you with a problem even if its not related to Odils

If you have a problem with other people in Plymouth then Odils can help you to report it to the police. We know that talking to the police can be scary, so we will try to talk to them for you as much as we can.

If your problem doesn’t need the police we can still help you to find the right person to support you. There is a lot of information around the school and you are always welcome to ask a member of staff what you should do.

Odils staff care for your well-being so please speak to a member of staff if you have a problem and we will help to handle your situation in confidence.

You can speak to any one of us first and if we are unable to help then we will direct you to the right place. Odils works with lots of partners who can help students when we can’t.

What is hate crime?

Hate crime is when someone acts violently towards you because of:

Sexuality, Disability, Race or Ethnicity, Religion or Faith and Transgender identity.

if you are a victim of hate crime, please report it. Do not suffer in silence!
